RUDOLF H. NICKEL

Rudolf H. Nickel of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away May 31. He was born Aug. 27, 1904 to Henry and Jacobine Nickel in Warsaw, Poland. He became a Christian in 1922. In 1925 he was drafted into the Polish army, serving in the medical corps. In 1926 he married Matilda Schroeder. They immigrated to Saskatoon in 1927. Matilda died of tuberculosis in January, 1931. In 1932 he began farming at Acme, Alta. The same year he married his second wife, Olga. In 1935 they moved to a farm at Namaka, Alta. He was baptized in 1944 and became active in the church as a deacon. They moved to a berry and poultry farm in B.C. in 1951. They joined South Abbotsford MB Church, where he remained active until his retirement. In 1989 they moved to Sunset Manor, Clearbrook, B.C. He is survived by his wife Olga; daughter Erna Friesen of Abbotsford; son Walter of Abbotsford; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The funeral was June 4 in South Abbotsford MB Church, with Dave Epp ministering.
