— John F. Nickel, young farmer living southwest of Hillsboro, passed away at the Bethesda hospital, Goessel, on Spet. [sic1. Ill since last December, he had undergone treatment at Kansas City and Wichita hospitals for leukemia. Thirty-three blood transfusions were given in an effort to save his life. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 4 at the Johannestal church near Hillsboro, Rev. Roy Henry in charge. Mr. Nickel, who was 41, leaves his wife, the former Olga Raltzaff, six sons and one daughter.
