Funeral services for Elizabeth E. Nickel, 89, a resident of Kansas Christian Home, Newton, the past two years, were held on May 7 at First Mennonite Church, Newton. Floyd Bartel and L. W. Jantzen officiated. Interment was in the Walton Cemetery. She died May 4 at the home. A native of Lehigh, she moved to Newton in 1951. Survivors include three sons, Bernie of Winfield, Walter of Fullerton, Calif., and Gary of Independence; two daughters, Martha (Mrs. Otto) Hiebert and Arlene (Mrs. Ned) Ross, both of Newton; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. Preceding her in death were her husband, George P. Nickel, and one son, Eddie.
