ABNER A. NICE

Abner A. Nice, son of the late Bishop John and Elizabeth (Dutcher) Nice, was born at Morrison, Ill. on May 1, 1885; died at his home at Morrison on July 17, 1971, aged 86 years, two months, and 16 days.

On Dec. 13, 1908, he was married to Esther Deter, who survives. And surviving are two sons, Aaron and Cecil; three daughters, Beulah, Rachel, and Hazel (Mrs. W. Richard) Hassan; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul.

He had farmed in the area all his life until retirement, and continued to live in the farm home. He was active and alert until shortly before his death, and was bedfast only a short time.

He was a member of the Morrison Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on July 20 in charge of Pastor Edwin J. Stalter of the Science Ridge Mennonite Church at Sterling. Internment was made in the adjoining Mennonite cemetery.
