HENRY PAUL NEUMANN

Henry Paul Neumann, son of Carl H. Neumann and Henrietta (Witt) Neumann, was born May 30, 1885, near Walton, Harvey Co., Kansas, and died in Feb. 21, 1956, at about 11:50 a. m.

In Dec. 1898 he moved with his parents to Medford, Okla. where he spent the rest of his childhood days as well as most of his adult life.

Confessing Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, he was baptized May 20, 1906, by Elder Peter Balzer and received into the fellowship of the Medford Mennonite Church.

On Feb. 16, 1911, he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth (Jantzen) Neufeld and moved to Vanity, Okla. They lived there for two years, after which they came back to Medford and stayed here till retirement. Here he raised a happy family. Here also he was active in church work, sincerely serving in several different capacities.

In 1948 he moved to Enid, Okla. where he joined the Grace Mennonite church Dec. 18, 1949, and where he passed away at the Enid Baptist Hospital at the age of 70 years, nine months and 21 days.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ida, who died June 13, 1914, and by Mrs. Gus (Anna) Nickel, who died Aug. 11, 1940.

His death is mourned by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Fast and Mrs. Art Fitch, both of Caldwell, Kansas, four sons, Gus and Alvin of Medford, Willard of Caldwell, Kansas, and Harold of Wichita; three sisters, Mrs. Pete Neufeld, Mrs. M. K. Dirksen and Mrs. Earl Ellis, all of Medford; two brothers, Oscar C. of Deer Creek and Carl J. of Shafter, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.

Bro. Henry was always willing to serve and his happy smile helped many a weary burdened soul.

The funeral was held on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Grace Mennonite Church with Albert J. Unruh in charge.
