MRS. ELIZABETH NEUMANN

Elizabeth Hartman was born on March 7, 1879 near Washington, Ill., a daughter of Rev. E. M. and Elizabeth Shelley Hartman.

On Feb. 12, 1901, she was united in marriage with Henry Neumann. The couple resided on farms near Metamora and Washington until their retirement some years ago, when they moved into Metamora.

Mrs. Neumann passed away on Tuesday morning, Feb. 3, at 5:30 a.m. at her home in Metamora after being invalided for 17 weeks following the farcture [sic] of her hip in a fall. She was for a short time a patient in a Peoria hospital and since then had been cared for in her home by her husband.

Surviving are her husband, one son, Emanuel E. Nenmann [sic Neuman] of Metamora; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Schrock of Metamora; four grandchildren, one great grandchild, six sisters, Mrs. Agnes Eberle of Peabody, Kans., Mrs. Lydia Zimmerman of Peoria, Mrs. Mary Burgi of Howe, Ind., and Mrs. Barbara Faubel, Mrs. Anna Hett and Mrs. Ella Matthews, all of Washington, Ill., and three brothers, David and William Hartman of Washington, Ill., and Joe Hartman of Metamora.

Mrs. Neumann throughout her life enjoyed the high esteem of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and mother, a kindly and considerate neighbor and a truly Christian woman whose passing is keenly felt not only in her own family but among her many friends in the Washington and Metamora communities.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Calvary Mennonite church in Washington, of which the deceased was a member. Services were held there at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Harry Yoder, assisted by Rev. Henry R. Schertz.

Pall bearers were her nephews, Wilbur Hartman, Dr. Roger Neumann, Richard Schrock, Robert Faubel, Ed Koch and Paul Matthews.

Interment was in Union cemetery, northwest of Washington.
