OLD SETTLER DIES

Diedrich Neufeld died at his home four miles south and six and one half west of Moundridge last Saturday. The deceased was 87 years of age. Funeral services were held at the Hebron Mennonite church Monday afternoon.

Mr. Neufeldt came to America 52 years ago and homesteaded the farm on which he died. His former home was in Russia. He resided on the same farm since coming to Kansas. Many are of the opinion that he was one of the oldest pioneers of Kansas, in this section of the country. Moundridge was built up since his coming and he also saw the Kansas prairies turned into cultivation and produce many thousand bushels of wheat. The old settlers of this community are passing one by one and their going is keenly felt, especially by the younger generation.

Mr. Neufeldt leaves four children to mourn his departure: John, residing south of here, D. G. living south of Alta Mill, Mrs. John Ratzlaff, south west of Moundridge and Mrs. Dick residing near Buhler. His second wife also survives.
