NETTIE WIENS NEUFELD

Nettie Wiens Neufeld, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Warkentin Wiens, was born July 22, 1879, on a farm in Marion county, Kansas. Here she spent her childhood days with her parents and also received her elementary schooling.

With her parents, she attended the Ebenfeld M. B. church and grew up under the ministry of Elder John Foth. As a young girl she recognized her need of a Saviour and accepted Jesus Christ into her life. She was baptized by Elder Foth and united for fellowship with the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren church. She was a conscientious Christian and sought to be faithful unto her Lord even as a young woman.

July 23, 1911, she was united in holy matrimony with Isaac Neufeld at Fairview, Oklahoma. With this very important step she assumed the responsibility of becoming a mother to seven children who had lost their mother one year earlier. As children, we are grateful to her for all that she has done for us and for our father. Father preceded her in death in February 1954.

The parents farmed near Fairvew, Okla. until 1919. In 1919 the family moved to Reedley, Calif. where the parents continued to farm until they retired. They were very devoted one to another and mother mourned greatly the loss of our father last year. The last months of her life were spent in the Home for the Aged in Reedley, Calif. These months she suffered greatly as the result of a broken hip. However, she was very patient and appreciated the good care in the home. She longed to go home to be with her Saviour. On August 3, 1955, 9:00 a. m. the Master called her and her soul was transferred to Paradise. She reached the age of 76 years and 12 days.

Those who remain to mourn her departure are five sons, Harry Neufeld, Fairview, Okla.; John Neufeld, Okeene, Okla.; Arthur C. Neufeld, Enid, Okla.; Edwin Neufeld, Salinas, Calif.; and Theodore Neufeld, Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Emma, Mrs. Isaac Harms, Ulysses, kan.; and Anna, Mrs. Pete Classen, Enid, Okla.; two sons-in-law, five daughters-in-law, 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. D. C. Eitzen, of Reedley, California. Besides these, there are many friends and relatives who stand by in this hour of sorrow. — The family.
