DAVID C. NEUFELD

David C. Neufeld of 218 Crespi St., [Reedley,] Calif., son of C. C. and Sarah Hiebert, Neufeld, was born May 13, 1900, at Henderson, Neb. He departed from this life Dec. 29, to be with his Lord and Saviour, having reached the age of 56 years.

In his early childhood the family moved to Lincoln, Neb. after which he came to Reedley with his parents in about 1920 and in 1922 was married to Mary Goossen. Here he also was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour at the hands of Rev. H. J. Krehbiel and became a member of the First Mennonite Church of Reedley where he remained a member until his death.

They moved back to Henderson, Neb. for a few years after which they returned to Reedley. To this union were born two children, Stanley and Shirley. His wife passed away April 6, 1942.

His work as a federal and state fruit and vegetable inspector took him to the surrounding communities of this area. On Nov. 18, 1944, he entered holy wedlock with Velma McIntosh and settled in Exeter, Calif. Two years later Sharon Kay came to bless the home. He was a hard worker, a good husband and father.

His health had failed the last three years due to a heart condition and his ability to work became irregular. It was his pleasure to participate in the 50th anniversary of the church, which meant much to him.

He leaves at his departing his wife, Velma: one son Stanley, Merced; two daughters, Shirley Mae, Mrs. Carl Pulliam of Pasadena, Calif., and Sharon kay at home; two grandchildren and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church of Reedley. Rev. Aaron Epp, the pastor based his message on Psalms 103:15-18. A trio comprised of Mrs. Aaron Epp, Mrs. Alvin Friesen and Mrs. Paul Ruth sang three selections, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Arthur Krehbiel. Burial was made in the Reedley Cemetery.
