ABRAM B. NEUFELD

Abram B. Neufeld, son of Gerhard and Helen Neufeld, was born Jan. 25, 1901 at Mt. Lake, Minn. He attended the Mt. Lake Bible School and Mankato (Minn.) Commercial College.

He was baptized on May 21, 1923 by Rev. I. J. Dick and received into membership of the First Mennonite Church. He transferred his membership to the Bethel Mennonite Church on October 1951.

On June 1, 1924 he was married to Helen Derksen. To this union one son, Gordon, was born. His wife Helen passed away Feb. 2, 1951. On Sept. 20, 1951 he was married to Elizabeth Quiring.

Abe was an employee of the U. S. Post Office in Mt. Lake for about 30 years, retiring in February of 1964. He then enjoyed spending his time in his hobby shop or working in his garden.

He had been in ill health for about the past five years. He was hospitalized at Immanuel Hospital in Mankato for about 10 days. He submitted to major surgery on Friday, March 7, and died shortly afterwards. Death was due to a heart attack. He attained the age of 68 years, one month and 12 days.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his son Gordon and daughter-in-law, Ardelle, and one granddaughter, Kristine Ann; two brothers, George B. and Peter B. Neufeld, both of Mt. Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Henry T. Nickel and Mrs. P. P. Buhr of Mt. Lake and Mrs. A. P. Fast of Delft; and numerous relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Helen, five sisters, one brother and two half-sisters.

The funeral was held at the Bethel Church on March 10, with Rev. Alvin Kleinsasser, Rev. Ronald Krehbiel, and Rev. Donald Kaufman officiating.
