MARY MAGDALENE NELSON

Mary Magdalene Simonson was born in the City of McPherson, February 11, 1882, and passed away at the Halstead Hospital, Sunday, February 29, 1948, having reached the age of 66 years. She had been in ill health in recent months and underwent an operation at the Halstead Clinic on February 26.

She was united in marriage to Ben Nelson, in McPherson, on February 20, 1907, and they have made their home in this community, living at 618 N. Walnut Street for the past several years.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Baptist Church and took an active part in its program as long as her health permitted.

Survivors include her kind and devoted husband Ben, and son Lewis; two sons, Timothy and Charles Mandt Nelson, whom she took into her home and raised. Also her brother, John Simonson of Selah, Washington, and sister, Esther Pletcher of Montebello, California; six grand-children and other relatives, and many friends. One grandson, Frank Shields, lost his life while serving with U. S. Army on Normandy Beach.

Services conducted by the Reverend Ross M. Wood, Friday, March 5, 1948, at 2:30 p.m. from the Baptist Church. Songs, “No Night There” and “Beyond the Sunset,” sung by Mrs. Clarence Lowen and Mrs. Robert Smith, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ronald Elwell.

Her final resting place the McPherson Cemetery.
