OTTO NEITSCH

Otto Neitsch of Vancouver died suddenly on July 26. He was born on April 5, 1909 in Borki, Poland, and confirmed at age 15 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gombin, Poland. In 1929 he emigrated to Canada and found employment in Alberta, then in B.C. as a longshoreman. In 1946 he married Lidja Lehman and became stepfather to five children. Nine years later Lidja passed away. On September 22, 1956 he married, Helen Kliewer. In 1968 he was disabled due to Parkinson's Disease and in 1974 he accepted the Lord while in hospital through the witness of Henry Classen of Culloden Mennonite Brethren Church (Vancouver). He leaves wife Helen; daughter Hilde and husband Gus Quadrizius; daughter Betty and husband Lorne Potter; son Alford; four grandchildren; his sister Elizabeth and husband Eduard Neitsch; and his brother Ewald and wife Irene. He was predeceased by brothers Friedrich and Albert and by sister Irma Tress. The funeral was held July 30 at Culloden MB Church with Victor Toews officiating
