Fred T. Neff

Wayland, Iowa, Dec. 29. — The many friends of Fred T. Neff were greatly surprised and shocked Tuesday morning when they were informed that Mr. Neff had died at the state hospital in Mt. Pleasant at 2:45 that morning. Mr. Neff has been in failing health for some time but his family or friends did not realize that he was near death.

He was born and raised in this community where he has been known as an honest, industrious man, a good citizen and a good neighbor.

About ten years ago Mr. Neff purchased a part of what is known as the Daniel Eicher farm, northwest of Wayland. On account of failing health Mr. Neff sold the farm last spring and a few weeks ago he and his family moved to the A. B. Jessup property in the north part of town where it was hoped a year's rest might restore his health. However, after moving to town he became worse, and about two weeks ago he was taken to the state hospital in Mt. Pleasant for treatment where he died suddenly from an attack of heart failure.

He is survived by his widow and three children, his mother, Mrs. G. W. Neff, three brothers, two sisters and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Mennonite church. Interment was made in the North Hill cemetery. — Wayland News.
