HERTHA H. NAFZIGER

Hertha H. Nafziger, daughter of Andrew and Elisabeth Esch Nafziger, was born March 17, 1879 in Alsace-Lorraine. She passed away Aug. 19, 1962, at the age of 83 years, three months and 18 days.

She came with her parents and three brothers to the United States in 1894, settled at Meadows, Ill. and later moved to Centralia, Mo. In 1918 the family moved to Pratum, Ore. and later to near Salem, Ore., where the parents passed away.

Hertha never married. Therefore she was always serving her family and helping others who needed help. Her last 16 years were spent at the home of her sister Esther, whose husband was an invalid for over six years.

On July 4 she fell and broke a hip. She was in a hospital till Aug. 19, when she passed away quietly.

She leaves to mourn her departure, two brothers, Willie and Alphonso of Salem, Ore.; and one sister, Mrs. Paul Stollar (Esther) of Oroville, Calif.; 14 nieces and nephews and many friends. Her parents, one brother and one nephew preceded her in death.

She was a member of Meadows, Ill. Mennonite Church. She always worshiped at the church near where she lived.

A funeral service was held at Oroville, Calif., after which the body was shipped to Salem, Ore., for a service and burial in the Pratum cemetery where her parents were also laid away. Services at Pratum were in charge of Rev. Allan Tschlegg and Rev. John Lecompte.
