BEATRICE NAFZIGER

Beatrice M. Nafziger, 96, formerly of Hopedale, Ill., died Jan. 17, 2004, at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka, where she was a resident. She was born May 13, 1907, to Niles M. and Sadie J. Huffman Slabaugh in Greentown, Ind.

She married Orrin Nafziger on Aug. 25, 1928, in Greentown. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1992.

She attended Goshen (Ind.) College. She taught junior high school in North Grove, Ind., for two years before becoming a homemaker.

She was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church and its WMSC, where she taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was a correspondent for Mennonite Weekly Review for Hopedale and Boynton Mennonite churches for more than 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd and his wife, Eunice, of Hopedale, and E. Wayne and his wife, Elfrieda, of Manhattan, Kan.; a daughter, Lorene Good and her husband, Walter, of Armington, Ill.; a sister, Lola Mast of Kokomo, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin; a daughter, Mary Ellen Watson; a sister, Vera Litwiller; and a brother, Truman Slabaugh.

Funeral services were held at Hopedale Mennonite Church. Burial was in the Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale.
