Brother and Sister In Fatal Auto Crash near Akron, Pa.

Ephrata, Pa. — A head-on crash a short distance south of Akron claimed the life of a Mount Joy man and seriously injured his sister.

Funeral services for Elmer Myer, 50, were conducted April 26 at the Stumptown Mennonite Church, of which he was a member. He died at Ephrata Community Hospital on April 22, three days after suffering internal injuries in the accident.

Mr. Myer and his sister Bertha, 40, were partners in the Myer Printing and Gift Shop in Mount Joy. they also attended the Green dragon market and Auction near Ephrata each week, and were returning home from market with Miss Myer at the wheel when an oncoming car driven by a 16-year-old Akron youth crossed the center line and struck their car. Officers said the Akron auto went into a skid on the wet pavement.

Miss Myer was admitted to the hospital with a broken ankle and knee cap. The Akron youth and a 15-year-old companion were admitted to the hospital with injuries but later released.

Mr. Myer leaves his mother, Mrs. Cora Myer of Mount Joy, a brother Harold of East Petersburg, and another sister, Mrs. Lloyd Wolgemuth of Mount Joy.
