R. WAYNE MUMAW

R. Wayne Mumaw, 69, died Nov. 3, 2010, at Glendora Health Care Center in Wooster, Ohio. He was born July 21, 1941, to Ralph and Mildred (Schrock) Mumaw in Smithville.

He graduated from Smithville High School in 1959 and acquired a bachelor of science degree in physical education from Friends University in Wichita, Kan. During his 1-W service at Goshen (Ind.) College, he also coached basketball at Bethany Christian High School.

For many years he worked as an area representative for Mennonite Mutual Aid, serving the churches in 12 Midwestern states. More recently he was self-employed in various jobs, including flea marketing and driving and delivering for the Amish. He attended Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville and enjoyed volunteer time at MCC Connections in Kidron. He was a loving and caring father and a sports enthusiast.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Mumaw and his wife, Wendy, of Mansfield, Texas, and Ryan Leahy of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Lisa Navarro and her husband, David, of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Charles Mumaw of Goshen, Ind., and Steve Mumaw of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Fast of Guymon, Okla., and Janet Klopfenstein of Smithville; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville.
