CARL MULLER

Carl Muller of 19499 East Dinuba Avenue, Reedley, Calif., son of Gottlieb and Louise Schieb Muller, was born near Backnang, Germany on Nov. 23, 1878 and came to this country with the brother Gottlob in 1894 and located at Lyons, Kansas.

Before coming to this country he received his early training and education in the Lutheran church.

In 1907 Carl came to Reedley, Calif. where he engaged in farming and joined the First Mennonite church. In 1911 he entered holy wedlock with Lydia Hallman. To this union were born three children. Shortly after the birth of her third child in 1925 his first wife passed away. Friends and relatives helped care for the children. He made his home in the Fairmead area from 1924 to 1947.

On Feb. 13, 1942 he entered wedlock with Mrs. Tillie Bergthold. This union was terminated when she passed to her eternal reward last summer. Mr. Muller had been in failing health for some time and after her death stayed with his son Carl, Jr. at Oakhurst. Here he finished his early life on Nov. 25, 1959.

Mr. Muller was a kind and generous man, and sometimes others took advantage of it. He was a good father and provider. He had a deep respect for the church and received the Lord's Supper together with his wife in their home last spring. He attested clearly to his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior.

His life will be cherished by his children, Heinretta [sic Henrietta], Mrs. Merle Bowersox of Turlock, Calif., Flora, Mrs. James McNally of Oakhurst, Carl, Jr. of Oakhurst; two brothers, Gottlob and C. F. of Reedley; one sister, Mrs. Marie Bergthold of Saratoga, Calif. and his many friends.

Funeral services were held in the First Mennonite church of Reedley on Nov. 26, 1959, at 10 a.m. Rev. Aaron Epp, the pastor officiated.
