Integrationist Marcher Slain in Alabama
A white Baltimore mailman making an integration pilgrimage to Mississippi was shot to death as he was walking along a road near Attalia, Ala.
William L. Moore, 35, had left his Baltimore home saying he was undertaking the march not to demonstrate federal or state rights, but "individual rights." The shooting took place in near-darkness in the early evening. A local grocer was arrested as a suspect in the crime.
