Helen Moffet

Helen Moffet died Tuesday (May 24, 2005) at Sandpiper Bay Health and Retirement in Wichita.

She was born to John Homer and Sadye Ethel (Tucker) Skinner in Elbing. They preceded her in death. She married Robert Moffet Nov. 7, 1946. He preceded her in death.

She attended school in Peabody at Fairmont Elementary and then at Peabody High School. She worked as a cashier for many years and also was employed by Safeway in Newton, Wichita and Phoenix. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Newton. She held previous memberships with the Eastern Star of Cottonwood Falls, the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks and the Ladies Auxiliary, all of Newton.

Survivors include: a son, Bill McGeorge of Safety Harbor, Fla.; a stepson, Donald Moffet of Overton, Texas; a daughter, Ramona (McGeorge) Harmon of Saco, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Doris (Moffet) Fromm of Beloit; a sister, Bettye Dewey of Amarillo, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by: two brothers, Bill Skinner and Burdette Skinner; and a daughter, Maxine Skinner.

Graveside service will be 3 p. m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
