POLLY MISHLER

Polly Mishler, daughter of Jonathan and Katie Miller Eash, was born in Somerset county, Pa., on Aug. 21, 1856. She passed away on Oct. 6, 1947, age 91 years, one month and 15 days.

In the year 1865 she came with her parents to LaGrange county, Indiana, where she resided the rest of her active life. The last three years of her life she lived with her oldest daughter in Elkhart county, where she was tenderly cared for. She was nearly blind and very feeble, but was patient and uncomplaining.

On April 3, 1880, she was married to George L. Mishler, who passed away on Jan. 1, 1934. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Jesse (Della) Brandeberry of Middlebury; Levi C. of Shipshewana; Joseph of Elkhart; and Mrs. Ammon (Katie) Yoder, who died on June 22, 1944. A foster daughter, Mrs. Ira E. (Ola) Yoder, was reared in the home from the age of seven weeks.

Mrs. Mishler was a member of the Shore Mennonite church near Shipshewana. She was a member of this church when services were held in a schoolhouse, then saw a church building constructed, saw that building remodeled twice, and finally observed the erection of a new building. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Her place was seldom vacant, and then only when sickness came. She was very patient in her declining years.

She leaves to mourn her departure her three children and one foster-daughter; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Levi Eash of Middlebury; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Lizzie) Miller of Shipshewana; and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the house, with Joseph J. Miller, Percy Miller and Oscar Hostetler in charge. Burial was made in Miller cemetery.
