MERRILL M. MISHLER

Merrill M. Mishler, 85, of LaGrange, Ind., died Jan. 11, 2001, at Vencor Hospital, LaGrange.

He was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Shipshewana, Ind., to Milton J. and Mary (Yoder) Mishler.

Residing most of his life in LaGrange County, he was a butcher and meat cutter at meat markets in Shipshewana, LaGrange and Howe, Ill. He was a dairy farmer and founder of Super Blend Inc. of LaGrange. He served in Civilian Public Service from 1943 to 1946 as a cook in Dennison, Iowa, an attendant at Delaware State Hospital in Farnhurst, Del., and as the business manager in Terry, Mont., and Fort Collins, Colo. In retirement he volunteered as a tour guide at Menno Hof in Shipshewana.

He was a member of Shore Mennonite Church. He was married Oct. 2, 1938, in Shipshewana, to Helen L. Miller. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Ruth Basinger and her husband, Edwin, of Tulsa, Okla.; Rose Miller and her husband Philip, of LaGrange; and Retha Filhart of Coleman, Mich.; two sons, John and his wife, Mary, and James, all of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Yoder of Syracuse, Ind. A brother, Glenn, preceded him in death.
