TWO MIDDLEFIELD, OHIO, YOUTHS LOSE THEIR LIVES THROUGH DROWNING

Middlefield, Ohio. — One of the largest funerals held here in recent years was that of Sam Miller, son of Andrew M. Miller, and Henry Kuhns, Jr., son of Henry Kuhns, two local youths who drowned at the dam near the Harry S. Weaver home.

Sam, who was unable to swim, was the first to plunge into the water, which was bout six feet deep. Henry, noticing that Sam was in distress, swam to his aid but was also drawn under water as the former tightly grasped hold of his body. The unfortunate youths were accompanied by Alton mast, a son of Mahlon Mast. A passing soldier brought the two bodies to the surface. Resuscitation efforts proved of no avail.
