MILDRED R. MILLER

Mildred R. Miller, 89, of Valley View, Pa., and formerly of Belleville, died March 3, 2004, at Valley View Haven. She was born Nov. 25, 1914, to Joseph N. and Mary M. (Yoder) Byler in Belleville.

Her husband, Harvey J. Miller, preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1976.

She served as a missionary in Europe for 25 years. After returning from Luxembourg, she single-handedly canned more than 40 pickup loads of jams and relishes for local bazaars, mostly for the Valley View Auxiliary, and made at least 16 quilts for the MCC sale in Harrisburg. She also graded Bible courses for local prison ministry and was a real prayer warrior. Her special gift was service to others.

She was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church and Senior Ladies Sunday School Class and the sewing circle of the church. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary at Valley View Haven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; three sisters, Sadie M. Yoder, Annie B. Glick and Amanda E. Hartzler; and a brother, Jesse W. Byler.

Funeral services were held at Locust Grove Mennonite Church of Belleville. Burial was in Locust Grove Cemetery.
