MELVIN F. MILLER

Melvin Franklin Miller, son of Amos and Amanda Bender Miller, was born Oct 22, 1897 in Johnson County, Iowa and passed away from this life at their farm house from this life at their farm home near Wellman, Iowa on Nov. 21, at the age of 64 years and 29 days. Death was due to a head injury caused by a fall while working at home.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Yoder Miller, to whom he was married on Dec. 5, 1920. To this union were born three children: Helen at home, Cecil of Iowa City and Orval of Phoenix, Ariz. Other survivors include the two daughters-in-law, four grandsons, Eldon, Sheldon, Keith, and Carlan; one granddaughter, Maureen, one sister, Viola, Mrs. Warren Miller of Millersburg, Ind.; and one brother, Merton of Iowa City, as well as many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Lydia, Mrs. Merton Scalf, who passed on in 1951.

Melvin accepted Christ in his youth at the age of 16. He has been a faithful member of the West Union Mennonite Church and was a Sunday school teacher at the time of his death.

In recent years Melvin took an increasingly active interest in the various activities of the church. One thing in which he was especially interested was the work of the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. He has been a member of the board of control of this home since its beginning and a member of its finance committee for over a year.

As a Christian father and husband he loved his home and family. He was devoted to his wife and children and loved his grandchildren dearly. — The Family.
