MRS. MATTIE MILLER

Mattie Miller, daughter of Lucinda (Stutzman) and John Troyer was born July 20, 1892, at Milford, Nebr. and died of a heart attack at her winter home in Phoenix, Ariz. on March 17, 1959, at the age of 66 years 8 months and 18 days.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Burkey on Dec. 25, 1910, and they made their home in the Milford vicinity.

The five children born to this union are Kenneth of Pekin, Ill., Lucinda (Mrs. Richard Bachman), Doris (Mrs. Dale Inbody), and Bety [sic Betty] Mae (Mrs. Melvin Yoder), all of Goshen, Ind., and Arnold of Dorchester, Nebr.

Joseph Burkey died on Sept. 30, 1951.

On June 5, 1955, she married Jess Miller of Phoenix, Ariz. They were anticipating their return to their summer home in Milford when she suddenly passed away.

She accepted Christ early in life and united with the Shickley Mennonite Church, later transferring her membership to the East Fairview fellowship to which she remained faithful until death. She attended the Sunnyslope church in Arizona the last four winters and was present there the Sunday before her death.

Survivors in addition to the husband and children are 10 grandchildren and the following step-children: Ethel (Mrs. Geroge Schiffler) of Everson, Wash., Ruth (Mrs. Warren Eichelberger) of Kalona, Iowa, Lloyd Miller of Phoenix, Ariz., and Doretta (Mrs. Lee Oswald) of Bruning, Nebr., and 12 step grandchildren.

These brothers and sisters also survive: Melvin Troyer, Milford; Lloyd, Wellman, Ia.; Perry, Waterford, Pa.; Dan, Union City, Pa.; Mary Klopfenstein, Cory, Pa.; Abner Troyer, Smithville, Ohio; Lucinda Miller, Cory, Pa.; Clayton and Vernon, Union City,Pa.; Velma Hostetler, Smithville,Ohio.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Elma Burkey, and a brother, John Troyer.
