Dies Unexpectedly After Second Heart Operation

Goshen, Ind. — Fred S. Miller, 47, of rural Goshen died Nov. 14 at Wesley Memorial hospital, Chicago, where he had undergone open heart surgery about a week earlier. He apparently was making a good recovery and his death was unexpected.

Mr. Miller, an Elkhart Townshop [sic] school bus driver since 1948, had undergone heart surgery in June 1956 when a plastic valve was inserted in his heart. The valve made a ticking sound, and the recent operation was to replace it with a silent valve.

A native of Reno County, Kan., he leaves his wife, the former Lydia Ann Yoder, and five children, all of the home; four brothers and eight sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church near here.
