DANIEL WALTER MILLER

Daniel Walter Miller was born Apr. 28, 1885 in Berlin, Ohio, the son of S. D. and Mary Miller Miller. He died May 6, 1978 at the age of 93.

He married Mabel Yoder of Topeka, Ind. on Dec. 31, 1908 and they spent over 67 happy years together. They were the parents of three children — twins Gerald and Geraldine, and Jonathan.

He united with the Mennonite Church as a young man and was a faithful lifetime member. He started his life work as a schoolteacher in Holmes County before going into business in Middlebury, Ind., Goshen, Ind. and Berlin, Ohio. He was later a mail carrier in Holmes County until the age of 70 when he retired. He and his wife spent 20 years in Sarasota, Fla.

He was a happy man and took delight in good fellowship and fun. He was always looking ahead and was able, in a very interesting way, to recall the past. Nieces, nephews and children loved to hear him reminisce and tell stories of happenings in early years, especially of the funny incidents of his childhood wi3th his brothers and sisters.

It was most satisfying to him to be able to spend his last weeks in his home church. He was a student of the Bible and when unable to read took great pleasure in identifying passages of scripture as they were read to him in devotional readings.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son Gerald, daughter Geraldine, three sisters and three brothers. Surviving are a son, Jonathan of Clearwater, Fla.,; a sister, Ida Yoder, and a brother, Melvin, both of Berlin, six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and thee great-great-grandchildren. Burial was in Berlin Cemetery.
