Amish Minister Fatally Injured in 18-Foot Fall at Barn Raising

Topeka, Ind. — An accident during a barn raising at the Perry Miller farm near here claimed the life of Crist D. Miller, 35, a minister of the Amish church.

Pre. Miller was helping put up rafters on an addition to the barn when he lost his balance and fell 18 feet to the ground, striking his head on a concrete block. He died int he ambulance while being rushed to a hospital in fort Wayne.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae, three sons and two daughters, all of the home; and his parents, Dan A. and Sara Miller.

1,100 Attend Funeral of Amish Minister

Topeka, Ind. — Eleven hundred persons attended the funeral services for Min. Chris [sic Crist.] D. Miller which were held at the Amos Jay Miller home on June 24. Min. Miller was a pastor of the S. E. Clearspring District Old Order Amish Mennonite Church of Topeka.

Delivering funeral messages were bishop Joni B. Miller and Min. Levi M. Mast, both of the home church, and Min. Simon Swartzentruber of the Middle Dist. in Dover, Del.

At another funeral service for Min. Miller, held in the Crosts' home, sermons were given by Bishop Daniel J. Bontrager of the Wolcottville Dist., Min. Dan J. Lehman of the Middle East Dist., both of Topeka, and Min. Perry Hostetler of the North Marshall Church of Nappanee.
