MISSOURI MAN KILLED BY EXPLOSION IN SHOP; SERVICES AT HESSTON

Hesston, Kan. — Charles Miller, 72, of Senaca [sic Seneca], Mo., was one of four men killed Oct. 17 by an explosion in a machine shop.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Hesston Mennonite Church, with Rev. Charles Diener of Canton and Rev. M. D. Landis officiating. Burial was in the Spring Valley cemetery near Canton.

The fatal explosion occurred when Miller was working with a piece of iron which had been used in a mine. It is thought the metal contained pockets of nitroglycerine which exploded when he used the trip hammer on it.

Survivors include his widow, Maudie, and six children, Fannie Mae of the home, Wilbur and Vincent of Wichita, Dorothea Bump of Adair, Okla., Ross of Hayward, Calif., and Charles of Omaha, Neb.
