Home Accidents in Ohio and Virginia, One Fatal

BURNS CAUSE DEATH OF MOTHER OF THREE AT SUGARCREEK, O.

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — Mrs. Abner B. Miller, 50, of the Amish community here, suffered fatal burns early Saturday morning, Dec. 2, when she attempted to light a stove with kerosene at her home north of Shanesville. She passed away at noon at Union hospital Dover.

Funeral services took place at the Miller residence Dec. 5, with Bishop Menno Beachy and Pre. Eli Schrock officiating.

Mrs. Miller was alone in the kitchen when the accident occurred. Her son Simon, 19, ran to her aid and put out the flames by wrapping her in a blanket, but she had already suffered second and third degree burns.

In addition to her son, she leaves her husband and two daughters, Mary and Edna, both of the home; two sisters and three brothers.
