MARIA MIELKE

Mrs. Maria Mielke, 84, passed into the presence of the Lord August after a relatively short illness. She was born in Russia in 1884, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Rempel. At the age of 18, in the year 1902, she migrated with her parents to Winkler, Man. where they settled on a farm. Here she was married to Henry Penner. After some time they moved to Fairhome, Sask. It was here that she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was later baptized and accepted into the EMB Church. In 1937 her first husband died and a few years later, in 1941, she remarried with Friedrich Mielke. From Fairhome she and her husband moved successively to Beechy, Sask., in 1944 to Arnold, B.C., and finally to Clearbrook, B.C., where they remained until Mrs. Mielke's passing.

Mourning her departure are her husband, Friedrich; four sons and three daughters of her first marriage; a stepson and two step-daughters of her second marriage, also numerous grand children and great-grandchildren. The funeral was observed in the Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church, August 8, with Rev. H. G. Thielman and Rev. Henry F. Klassen ministering.
