text of obituary:

JOHN R. MIERAU

John R. Mierau was born in York county, Nebraska, on July 30, 1900. On June 8, 1924, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and was received as a member into the Bethesda Mennonite church of which he remained a member until his death. He resided in this community throughout his lifetime, living on the farm until 1934, then in Henderson, where he did custom shelling and shop work.

He was united in holy matrimony with Lydia Friesen on December 4, 1921, and to this union were born two children, Virgil and Pearl, both of Henderson. The wife and mother passed away on June 8, 1947, thus preceding him in death by three years.

For the past four months his health had been poor and he was called home on June 6, 1950, having attained the age of 49 years, 10 months, and seven days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his children, Virgil and Lela Mierau and sons, Ronald, Gary, and Tommy; and Pearl and Victor Janzen and children, Carolyn and Mark; his father, John L. Mierau; one brother, Herman of Grand Island; five sisters, Helen (Mrs. Henry Bergen), Lizzie (Mrs. Dan Peters), Tina (Mrs. Herb Friesen); Nettie (Mrs. Gus Friesen), Goldie (Mrs. Nick Friesen); five sisters-in-law, 10 brothers-in-law, and many other relatives and friends.
