22-MONTH-OLD CHILD DROWNS IN RIVER NEAR HIS HOME

Hebron, Ind. — Funeral services were held at the Kouts Mennonite church on Sept 5 for Elmer Lee Mierau, 22-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Mierau who lost his life by drowning in the Kankakee river near their home the previous Wednesday.

The child was missed by his mother during the noon hour, and a group of men who joined in the search noticed footprints leading into the river. However, the body was not recovered until about 4:30. He was the Mieraus only child.
