He was united in marriage to Helena Epp of Henderson on Oct. 15, 1909. Six children were born to this home. A son Gus and a daughter Edith preceded him in death. He and his wife were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary two years ago.

As a youth Mr. Mierau was baptized upon his confession of faith and received into the membership of the Bethesda Mennonite Church, Henderson. When the Mennonite Community Church was organized in Fresno, Calif. he was one of the charter members. He was a faithful church member.

The family moved from Henderson to Fresno in 1939. Here Mr. Mierau worked for some time in various jobs. He was active and in fairly good health until recently. Several weeks ago he was hospitalized for heart failure and pneumonia, but improved enough to come home again. He was quietly called to his heavenly home early Friday morning, Feb. 17, having reached the age of 79 years and almost three months.

His survivors include his wife, Helena; two sons, Harry of Gardena, Calif. and Rudy of Fresno; two daughters, Bertha, Mrs. Klaus Friesen of Henderson, and Helen of Fresno; two brothers, Cornelius and Frank, both living in Nebraska; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
