SAMUEL B. METZLER

Samuel B. Metzler, 74, of Wabash Ave., Wakarusa, Ind., died at his home on Thursday morning, Feb. 28. Mr. Metzler had been in failing health for some time but death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.

He was born in Mahoning County, O. Jan. 4, 1878, the son of Samuel and Veronica (Brubaker) Metzler. Mr. Metzler was the last survivor of a family of eight.

He was married to Nora Reed, Jan. 21, 1905, and she died in 1907. To this union, was born one daughter, Mrs. Rosa Miller of Middlebury. On Sept. 19, 1908, he married Phoebe Christophel, who survives as do two sons, Floyd and Titus, both of Nappanee. One son, Carl, preceded him in death. There are also 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren surviving.

Bro. Metzler was a member of the Salem Mennonite church and served for many years as deacon of the congregation. When his health failed, a helper was ordained to assist him.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 1, at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o’clock at the Yellow Creek Brick church, Rev. Ray Yoder and Rev. Francis Freed officiating. Burial was made in the Yellow Creek cemetery.
