FORMER CHAIRMAN OF MISSION BOARD DIED AT AGE NINETY-THREE

Smoketown, Pa. — John H. Mellinger, 93, prominent Mennonite church leader and retired farmer, died May 13 at the home of his grandson, Amos Mellinger of Route 1, Lancaster, after a ten day illness.

Bro. Mellinger, who held honorary membership on the Eastern Board of Missions and Charities, served as president of that organization for 40 years before retiring.

He is survived by four sons. Jacob, superintendent of the Mennonite Home near Oreville; Benjamin, Bird-in-Hand; Enos, Philadelphia; and Jesse, Route 4, Lancaster. His wife died 29 years ago.

Funeral services were held at Mellingers church on May 17.
