Couple Killed When Car & Truck Collide

CRASH NEAR TURPIN, OKLA. FATAL TO MR. AND MRS. CLYDE MEGERT

Hillsboro, Kan. — A car-truck collision south of Turpin, Okla. on the day before Christmas claimed the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Megert of Wichita, Kan., it was learned here by relatives of Mrs. Megert.

Reports stated that 24-year-old Mrs. Mergert [sic Megert], the former Shirley Ann Steinle of Hillsboro, was instantly killed. Her husband, 23, died Dec. 26 in a Liberal hispital [sic]. Their two little girls escaped injury, as did the truck driver.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Mennonite Brethren Church of Balko, Okla.

Mrs. Megert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Steinle of Hillsboro, graduated from the local high school in1950. Besides the parents and two little girls, Connie Louise 3, and Toni Lynn 2, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Fayne Klassen of Wichita, and three brothers, Sheldon, John and Jimmy, all of the home.
