Leo McElwain

Leo McElwain, 84, retired maintenance and electrician with Santa Fe Railroad, died Thursday (Dec. 14, 2006). Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Monday at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.

He was a member of Bester Brown Blue Lodge and York Rite Temple, Midian Shrine, Brother of Railroad Maintenance of Way Union, Disabled American Veterans, Retired Officer Association, and the VFW.

He was a Romanian ex-POW and was in many veterans organizations.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Elizabeth McElwain; sister, Floriene (McElwain) Naylor; and great-nephew, James Edward Swick.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, LaVeda J. (Marshall) McElwain; a loving uncle to nieces and nephews, Helen and Don Baker of El Reno, Okla.; Emma Jeanne Swick of McPherson; Don and Judy Naylor of McPherson; Carolyn Naylor of Newton; Roger and Paula Naylor of Wichita; 15 great nieces and nephews; 23 great-great nieces and nephews; and a great-great-great niece, Cheyanne Lydia Rose.

Memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67211.
