MRS. ELLA MAURER

Ella Maurer, daughter of Jacob and Catherine (Schloneger) Schmucker, was born near Louisville, Stark County, Ohio on Nov. 15, 1889, and died at the Timken Mercy Hospital, Canton, Ohio on Oct. 11, 1956, at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 26 days.

In 1903 she accepted Christ as her Saviour, and on her fourteenth birthday she was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Beech Mennonite Church in which she continued faithfully until the end.

On Dec. 24, 1912, she was united in marriage to Alvin Mourer [sic] of the same community. To this union were born three sons.

She was a loving and devoted mother, a good and helpful neighbor, and an active member of the Women's Missionary and Service Auxiliary in the church. She also took part in other church activities.

A number of years ago mother suffered a light stroke from which she never fully recovered, but she was able to do most of her work. On Oct. 2 she suffered another cerebral hemorrhage which resulted in her death nine days later.

Her husband passed away three years ago. Her father and three brothers, Aaron, Elmer and Milton also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three sons, Harold of Pasco, Wash., Clayton of Louisville, O. and Ivan of Reedley, Calif.; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great step-grandchildren; one great great step-grandchild; her mother, Mrs. Catherine Schmucker of the home in Harrisburg, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Miller of Louisville and Anna of the home; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Beech Mennonite Church with the Brethren O. N. Johns and Eldon King officiating. The text was, "To die is gain." Interment was made in the church cemetery.
