MRS. MABEL MASSEL

Mrs. Mabel Massel, 74, died Monday, Oct. 2, at the Eureka, Ill. Hospital. She had been a resident of the Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka, formerly known as the Mennonite Home for the Aged, for 22 years.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Eureka, with Rev. Laurence Horst officiating. Burial was made in the Roanoke Mennonite Church Cemetery. The WMSA of the Roanoke Mennonite Church prepared dinner for the family and friends at the church.

Born March 8, 1887, at Strang, Neb., she was the daughter of Henry and Susan LeFever Harnish. She was married to Herman Massel in 1909 at Harrisonville, Mo. He died in 1941.

For 30 years the Massels lived on a farm northwest of Peabody, Kan. where they were members of the Catlin Mennonite Church. They made farm sale due to the failing health of Mr. Massel and went to Eureka, Ill. where he died 18 months later.

Surviving are two brothers, Frank and John Harnish, both of Eureka; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Harnish of Rozel, Kan., Mrs. Ella Van Dyke of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. Sue Sherwood of San Francisco, Calif., and Miss Emma Harnish of Los Angeles, Calif. An infant son, her husband and a sister preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Englewood Mennonite Church in Chicago, ill.
