Small Child Drowns In Ditch at Hesston
Hesston, Kan. — Chad LaRay, 19-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Delvin Martin, drowned Tuesday morning in a ditch near his home.
A neighbor discovered the body at about 10 a.m. Immediate efforts to revive the child were of no avail. Little Chad LaRay had accompanied his mother as she was hanging out clothes and wandered into the ditch when she went back into the house for a few minutes.
In addition to the parents, survivors include a brother, Reginald Jay, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Burkey of Hesston and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Martin of Minot, N. D.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at 10 a.m., in the Hesston Mennonite Church, with Rev. Peter Wiebe officiating. funeral arrangements are in charge of Miller Funeral Home, Goessel.
