LELAND WILLIAM MARTENS

Leland William Martens, better known as “Bud" to all his friends and loved ones, was born near Weatherford, Okla., on July 27, 1921. He died on Feb. 20. 1951, at the University hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla., after a brief period of servere [sic] illness of diabetic fever. He reached the age of 29 years, six months and 25 days.

When Leland was one year old he moved with his parents to the farm west of Geary, Okla. He graduated from the Geary high school with the class of 1939.

Leland accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in the First Mennonite church of Geary on Sept. 25, 1949, where he remained a faithful member until his passing. He loved his Lord and lived his life accordingly.

One brother, Leonard, preceded him in death in infancy.

He leaves to mourn his departure his parents; his grandfather G. B. Kliewer of Hillsboro, Kansas; four brothers, Jake of Jetmore, Kansas, Eldon of Siloam, Arkansas, Alvin of Shawnee, Okla., and Irwin of Okla. City, Okla.; three sisters, Emma Hilderman, Hilda Hilderman and Ruth Chasteen, all of Hinton, Okla., the brothers-in-law and the sister-in-law, fourteen nieces and nephews, his fiancee Ann Davison, and a host of other relatives and friends.
