FAMOUS AUTHOR DIED IN SWITZERLAND

Thomas Mann, internationally known literary genius, died in a hospital at Zurich, Switzerland, August 12 at the age of 80 years.

Mann was born in Germany and lived there until he was driven rom his homeland by Nazi persecution before World War II and became an American citizen. He won the Nobel prize for Literature in 1929. He changed his residence to Switzerland three years age [sic], saying he had “the urgent desire to re-establish and cultivate the contact with the old soil of Europe.”
