Iowa Businessman Dies at Age 84

Wayland, Iowa. — Funeral services for Albert D. Magdefrau, 84, well-known retired businessman here, were conducted March 27 at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Rev. E. S. Mullett officiated.

The oldest native resident of this community, Mr. Magdefrau died March 25 at Memorial hospital.

For many years he was associated with his father, Herman Magdefrau, and his brother Frank in the General Merchandise Store here, and also was associated with his brother in the livestock business until 1947. He was a charter member of the Wayland State Bank, and was president of the bank at the time of his death. He served as mayor of Wayland for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Luellen, in 1909, and his second wife, Lola Wyse, in 1961. Surviving are two sons by his second marriage, two grandchildren, and his brother, Frank.
