— Mrs. Kath. Luginbill, 74, well known resident of the Moundridge community, passed away in a Newton hospital today. Funeral services will be held at the Christian Mennonite church of Moundridge on Friday.

Mrs. Katherine Lugenbill [sic Luginbill]

Katherine Lugenbill [sic Luginbill], daughter of Karl and Eva (Koehn) Wedel, was born October 5, 1862 in Russia, and passed away Wednesday noon, August 11, at the Axtell Christian hospital, in Newton, at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 6 days.

The Wedel family migrated to America in 1874, with a large Mennonite colony. Later many of them settled in Kansas and have lived here ever since.

Mrs. Lugenbill [sic Luginbill] joined the Emmanuel Mennonite church, north of Moundridge when fifteen years old, and has never transferred her membership.

On December 2, 1883 she was united in marriage to Samuel Lugenbill [sic Luginbill]. Nine children were born to this home. Mr. Lugenbill [sic Luginbill] passed away on May 14, 1919. One daughter died in infancy, and she was preceded in death a few years ago by two sons, Bill and Arnold.

She is survived by one son, Adolph, who with his wife, lives at Burrton, and five daughters, Mrs. Alice Brier and Mrs. Mabel Cushing both of Newton, Mrs. Minnie Smith of Hutchinson, Mrs. Della Ratzlaff of Burrton, and Mrs. Esther Holdeman of Halstead. There are two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Arnold Lugenbill [sic Lugenbill] of Newton, and Mrs. Bill Lugenbill [sic Luginbill] of Halstead. There are 37 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Surviving also are a sister, Mrs. Mary Koehn of Galva, and a brother, Peter C. Wedel of Hutchinson.

Besides the above, there are a host of other relatives and friends who will miss this loved one.

The funeral was held at the First Christian Mennonite church of Moundridge on Friday, August 13, at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. J. J. Ratzlaff of Newton officiating. A mixed quartet of the church sang several songs at the church and also at the cemetery. Interment was made at the cemetery of the church by the side of her husband, in charge of Henry J. Sprinkler.
