AUGUST B. LOWENBERG

August B. Lowenberg, 73, died at his home in Donnellson, Iowa on Friday, Jan. 30, at 2:30 a. m. following several years of ill health.

The son of John and Katherine Strom [sic Strohm] Lowenberg, he was born June 5, 1882, on the farm northeast of town which was his home until about ten years ago when he retired from active farm work and moved to Donnellson.

He was baptized in the Zion Mennonite church Sept 27, 1896, and was a lifelong faithful member of that church.

On Feb. 27, 1907, he was married to Lottie Louisa Krebill. To this union five children were born, Lester of Chicago, Ill., Alberta (Mrs. G. G. Hallaver [sic Hallauer]) of Algona, Ia., Stella (Mrs. G. E. Patterson) of Des Moines, Ia., Florence (Mrs. Wayne Helsel) of Anoka, Minn., and Calvin who operates the home farm.

Surviving besides his widow and children are two brothers, James and Alfred, and 13 grandchildren. Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Zion Mennonite church Monday afternoon following a family prayer service at Miller's Home for Funerals. Rev. Harold Thiessen, pastor of the church, officiated. A quartet sang "Abide with Me" and "God Will Take Care of You." Burial was in the Mennonite Cemetery.
