JACOB LOHRENZ

Jacob Lohrenz, son of John and Agatha Harder Lohrenz, was born Sept. 21, 1896, in Harvey County, Kansas. He spent all of his life in the same community as a farmer and also did some road work.

The last week of his life he stayed with his friend's son in Newton while they went to California. Friday afternoon, Feb. 28, he left for home to attend to some business. However, he became stuck in the snow not far from home. He went to a nearby neighbor of help, and there suffered a heart attack and passed away before anything further could be done. He reached the age of 61 years, five months and seven days.

He very much loved children and it never took him long to win their affection.

He realized his sinful condition and not long ago expressed himself that he often prayed Jesus to forgive his sins. We know that He did, for He has promised “him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out.”

He leaves to mourn his departure three brothers, two sisters and one sister-in-law, Abraham and wife Carrie of Yates Center, P. H., John H., Marie and Anna, all of Burrton, Kansas; one niece, four nephews, four great-nephews and four great nieces, many relatives and friends. His parents, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
