TINA LOEWEN

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 19, in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Yarrow, B.C., for Mrs. Tina Loewen (nee Epp), who passed away on April 15. Rev. Aron Rempel spoke in the German language, basing his message on Psalm 90:1-3.

Mrs. Loewen was born April 29, 1889, in Rosenbach, Fuerstenland, Russia. She accepted Christ as Saviour in her twentieth year, was baptized in June of 1911, and was accepted as a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. On November 17, 1911 she was married to David P. Loewen, Their home was blessed with 10 children, two of whom died in infancy.

In 1928 the family left Russia for Canada, taking up residence in Hepburn, Sask., for two years. In 1930 a homestead was bought at Fairholme, Sask., where they resided for 13 years.

In 1943 they moved to Yarrow, B.C. where she lived the remainder of her life. Her husband preceeded her in death by 11 years. Her enthusiastic nature and love for the Lord meant much to her children and grandchildren. Despite several strokes since 1959 she remained clear in her thinking till shortly before her passing. Since she could not leave home for the last five years she fellowshipped by means of church-radio.

Left to mourn are her two sons, David of Yarrow, and Abe of Arnold, B.C.; six daughters, Tena (Mrs. Dave Sawatzky) of Abbotsford, Nettie (Mrs. Peter Wiens) of Yarrow, Elizabeth, who has offered her much service, Helen, (Mrs. Cornelius Friesen), Saskatoon, Mary (Mrs. Norman Fehr) on furlough from the West Indies, and Bertha (Mrs. John Balzer), Ocean Falls, two daughters-in-Iaw, five sons-in-law, 25 grandchildren, and one granddaughter-in-law.
