DIETRICH LOEWEN

Dietrich Loewen, born September 10, 1896 at Mountain Lake, Minnesota, the son of Dietrich and Lena (Kroeker) Loewen, passed away quietly in the Saskatoon City Hospital on March 15 at the age of 73.

He came to Canada with his parents in 1903 and settled in the Dalmeny district north of Saskatoon. It was here that he was saved and baptized and united with the church. On October 24, 1920 he married a widow, Susie Goertz Klassen, and accepted the responsibility as father of her young son Edward. For over 37 years they shared joys and sorrows unti1 her home going on February 20, 1958. God blessed their union with two children, Fred, who predeceased his father in June, 1968, and Rosie, at home. He was occupied with farming and custom work until he retired in 1961.

He was also keenly interested in the church and the work of the Lord. During the last year of his life, when he was in failing health, he often expressed his disappointment at not being able to attend Sunday school and the worship services. In his suffering he was a testimony and encouragement to many.

He leaves to mourn, one son, Edward of Saskatoon; one daughter, Rosie of Dalmeny; two daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; one brother and three sisters.
